Homemade Smoker

I've been thinking and planning a propane tank smoker for awhile.   And lately I've been thinking and planning for deer hunting season...so I wanted to get this done before deer season. So  today....I got started!  Like everything I do....I am going to build this on the cheap. The burn box and smoke box will both be made from recycled propane tanks. These are fairly easy to come by.....and usually free.  I don't know where these came from....but they've been sitting around for a few years. Using a cut off wheel on my ever so trusty Milwaukee garage sale grinder.....I cut off the valve guard. I then cut along the top weld on the tank to create the door that will swing open to add wood.  The valve was taken off years ago.....so I felt the tank was well purged and safe for me to cut. I was right. I was wondering why the tank felt so damn heavy......a little critter made a nest in there.....fortunately he was long gone. Next I will weld hinges for the door.....and drill ventilation holes on the side so I can control the amount of air allowed into the burn box and thus the amount off smoke.

Campfire coffee !

Nice campfire coffee percolater. Bought this baby used off ebay for around $15 shipped. It came with the coffee pot , the coffee pot guts, and four coffee cups.  I have to admit....I was damn excited to try her out this morning.  Little slow on getting the water to a boil.....but once it started boiling she started percolating like a champ! !!!!! That's a damn good cup of coffee! !!!

Finished birdhouses

Here's a picture of the finished birdhouses I gave to my ladies for christmas.  They did a great job on them!
I cut the wood for them, gave them the license plate roof and all the necessary hardware in a box for Christmas.  Then one spring day we went out to the garage to build them. They liked using the nailgun :)  Then another spring day...they painted them. They are hung on the garage now.......and some bluebirds have moved in.

After some paint, I started working on my day of the dead skull coffee table. License plates,  beer caps, turquoise stones, and 9mm shell casings so far.

Propane tank dragonflies !!!!!

These are dragonflies I cut from recycled propane tanks. I used a plasma cutter to cut out all the separate pieces. ...then welded them all together. They represent my three little ladies......and me ! I love dragonflies !

Ready for the snow...well almost.

Well I got the plow mounted and working. I need to fine tune it, wire tie everything down, and mount the control inside the cab (it's laying on the floorboard now). I want to get it set up really nice and easy to work, in case I am at work when it snows, and the wife has to do the plowing. So far so good. It was a little more difficult than I thought, being everything is rusted and my tourches are buried in the barn, I had to use a sawzall for cutting. It was supposed to snow yesterday 3 -5 inches, but we only got about 2", not even enough to plow ....and we have now snow in the forecast for the next week or so :(
